Hello, my name is Laurent Cousineau, and I started the website Climate Change Guide 12 years ago to spread awareness about this critical issue.
Recently, a day in July was the hottest day on Earth in over 100,000 years. Hopefully, this should be a wake-up call for many people worldwide.
I’m from the city of Montreal, and there was a day several weeks ago when our city had the most polluted air in the world due to wildfires nearby. You may have seen pictures of New York City, where the skyline was orange due to the wildfires from Canada. Clearly, the severity of wildfires worldwide should also be a wake-up call.
There was another event that was interesting to mention. Montreal is in the province of Quebec, and within our province is a town called Lac-Mégantic. July 6, 2023, marked the 10th anniversary of the Lac-Mégantic rail disaster. A freight train carrying crude oil derailed in its downtown area and exploded, killing 47 people.
Humanity’s addiction to fossil fuels has consequences. Unfortunately, there is still a significant amount of disinformation about climate change, and there is a general lack of awareness about the seriousness of the issue.
I plan on continuing my work on the Climate Change Guide for many years to come. I will do my best to spread awareness.
You can see a list of movies I recommend here.
It’s crucial that you gain more insight into the issue of climate change and help spread awareness. My website contains info on many topics and many links to various articles. The movies that I recommended will also help you gain knowledge on climate change.
We have to act together to fight the climate crisis. In my opinion, one of the best things to do is to spread awareness because that awareness has ripple effects. When a high percentage of a population is aware of an issue, the people tend to put enormous pressure on governments, corporations, and organizations to take action.
Thank you for being a Climate Insider.
Sincerely, Laurent Cousineau
